ACS QLD & NT AWARDS 2023
The Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS) awards celebrate excellence in cinematography within the Australian film and television industry.
On 25 November in the Ithaca Room at Brisbane City Hall, the ACS community celebrated the achievements and talent of the best cinematographers and rising stars of the Queensland and the Northern Territory film industry.
The event is an opportunity to recognize and honour outstanding achievements in the art and craft of cinematography, highlighting exceptional work in capturing and creating visual storytelling through the use of camera, lighting, composition, and visual aesthetics. The awards encompass a range of categories including feature films, documentaries, television series, commercials, music videos, and more, acknowledging the skill, creativity, and technical expertise of cinematographers and their teams.
The ACS is a vibrant community uniting cinematographers, camera professionals, and industry enthusiasts in a shared passion for visual storytelling in film and television. The ACS fosters collaboration, skill development, and the exchange of creative ideas. Advocating for the interests of its members, supporting industry initiatives, and engaging with various film-related activities, the ACS serves as a crucial platform for learning, recognition, and community building within the Australian film and television landscape.
The ACS’ support and recognition of cinematographers in Queensland is vital to boosting the growth of Queensland’s film industry and elevating the region's profile. The event was attended by notable figures in the Queensland film industry including Guest of Honour, Leah Purcell and Warwick Thornton who received an ACS accreditation on the night.
